I bought a Diamond Back Explorer, to compare it to my Asp Explorer. With engineering modifications, it can jump a little further than the Asp. But it can't carry as large a fuel scoop, so it actually ends up travelling slower.
This was my visit to the Gnosis, a mega-ship which jumps once per week and will carry you with it if you are docked at the time. Frankly, I could cover the distance of it's jump (and a whole lot more) in the space of a week rather than waiting for it to jump.
